TIME for Teachers –  An Early Literacy Initiative for Teacher Development

§  Instructor, TIME for Teachers initiative, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, VT.  This was an early literacy project whose goal was to teach the science of reading to practicing educators in Vermont schools.  Dr. Blanche Podjahski (VT) was the creator. Dr. Louisa Moats, Dr. Nancy Mather and Dr. Reid Lyon were advisors.  My responsibilities included curriculum development and modifications in lieu of most recent research as well as co-teaching the 35 hour class with Dr. Blanche Podjahski at various sites around the state. I introduced Phoneme-Grapheme Mapping to the class in 1993.  (1993 to 2005)

§  Mentor Coordinator, TIME for Teachers project, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, Vt. – Responsibilities included training, coordination and scheduling of all TIME mentors in the state and creating agendas for monthly Mentor meetings.  (1995 to 2000)

§  Project TIME Coordinator, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, Vt. – Responsibilities included organizing the various mentor responsibilities, research, grant and budget components of the project into a timeline for the Center’s use.  Curriculum modifications and coordination with other TIME based projects.  (1997 – 1998)

§  Mentor, TIME for teachers literacy program, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, Vt. – Responsibilities included collaboration and modeling of research based literacy techniques to practicing teachers in Vermont schools. (1995-1997)
